Sarah and Jeff

This is Kelly posting tonight. So it has been far to long since our last blog post. We have been hibernating from the cold and busy working on all our winter projects. Over the past few years we have shot at Heritage Hill in the spring, summer, and fall. But this past weekend was our first opportunity to capture a winter wedding there. In spite of some blistering temps, Sarah and Jeff had a beautiful wedding day and now they are warming up in sunny Florida while the rest of us suffer on.

Dress and shoe detail

I was hanging out in the back with Sarah and her dad. I love this moment between the two of them right before she walked down the aisle.

This was from Mark's view at the front of the church.

The church from the balcony

The light right around sunset was so delicious.

My favorite I think. A little surreal and magical.

As Sarah and Jeff were exiting the church the sun was setting behind them.

We were there primarily for the ceremony and getting ready, but here is a snap of their cake. The reception was also at Heritage Hill.

A day late and a dollar short.

Whew, was that a whole year that just went by? I need to let you guys know what an awesome year we had in 08! I don't remember any of it, but my kids tell me it was great. No, I really do have some of the most incredible memories from this past year.

We started the year shooting and we ended the year shooting, and I think there may have been a little shooting in the middle there somewhere. We shot right at 30 weddings this past year, and that's exactly what we were aiming for...so that was cool. For me some of my best shots were from engagement shoots. I LOVE SHOOTING ENGAGED COUPLES! We just have so much fun. I just want to say to all of you that I have the priviledge of calling my clients...you guys make me look good, you make my job easy, and you all enable us to keep doing this year after year. Thank You!

What about the little stinkers? We managed to travel a lot with and without the girls...so that was good. We got to sail a lot together...that was sweet. We are putting together a larger trip for this summer, but we'll see what kinda sailor Riley turns into this year. Our lives are so much the richer for being able to be home everyday with our children. Who deserves that priviledge?...I DON'T! Syd and Riles make the summers bearable (Kelly helps the bearabilty , too), and they always greet me with open arms after a long wedding. They are all my reasons. (A Beautiful Mind)

Kelly seems to have survived the year with only minor scratches, and is super stoked about this upcoming season (weddings.) Have I ever told you what a incredible album designer she is? Seriously folks we don't put our albums into competitions, because we don't want to embarrasse anyone. She is world class. Kell does twice as much work as I do, and gets half the praise. I dedicate the success of 2008 to my wife who is so much more than the epoxy that holds the ship together.

I also want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who keeps me and protects me and my family year after year. He is the friend I can count on when all others are sick and tired of me. I know that I am doing what I should be doing...what I was put on this earth to do...and that is good feeling. I am so blessed.

So what about me? I am growing...my mind is growing, my heart is growing, my abilities are growing, my friends are growing, my family is growing, and my server is growing...we shoot too many images, and we need more space! This will be a year of growth, and I am excited.

So I know this was a belated post, but I'm lazy. Here's to a fantastic 2009!

Laura and Dirk

Just a few days ago we finished the year with a wedding, and this weekend we started the new year with a wedding. We were up in Sturgeon Bay this weekend to photograph the lovely Laura and Dirk. We had a wonderful time with all their family and friends. Everyone made us feel so welcome. Laura is a wedding photographer herself so it is a special privilege that she entrusted her wedding memories to us. You can tell that she had experience with the whole wedding thing because this wedding was beautifully planned down to the little details. We could not have asked for a better start to what is sure to be a wonderful year.

These pearls have some family history and were a nice starting point for the bridal wardrobe.

Some cool dress detail.

Laura's room had a balcony so it was a nice perspective for the getting dressed pictures. I love how everyone is actively involved in the process.

Laura has this elegant and sweet quality about her.

I love this one.

This is an example of Dirk's "goofy" quality. He kept everyone including us laughing throughout the day.

Group hug at the altar. I loved this sweet family moment.

You can tell that these two have a lot of fun together.

Like I said . . .

Love Laura's car.

The most gorgeous sunset with a view of the old Sturgeon Bay bridge.

Enjoy the pics and enjoy sunny Mexico.

Rita and Phil

After a wonderful Christmas holiday with family and friends, it seemed fitting to end the year with one last wedding. Rita and Phil got married on New Year's Eve. A great day it was in spite of some frigid temperatures. From a candlelight ceremony at Crystal Coffee to a fabulous party at Brett Favre's, it was a fantastic night. We wish you both a happy New Year and many more happy new years to come.

Some getting ready details. Make up by Face First Make-up Artistry.

Gorgeous flowers in some pretty cool light

The distinguished groom.

A kind of unusual place for a ceremony, but this is the place these two met. Rita started this business years ago, and it now has different owners. It was actually a quite perfect site for the ceremony.

Holding hands during the pronouncement and final prayer.

Look how happy these two are to be married!

I love this series outside of the atrium. It was soooo cold!

Cake cutting.
